In 2010 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred over 1.1 bln. rubles for the implementation of port infrastructure development programme.

Main part of the funds, over 888 mln. rubles, was transferred for the modernization of the handling facilities of the Container Terminal of Fourth Stevedoring Company.  In the end of December the first handling operation was performed and in the end of January of 2011 the Container Terminal started to perform regular handling operations. It is planned that in 2012 the terminal will reach its full project capacity of 345 thousand TEU.

The expenses for the reconstruction of the storage capacities and the planned renovation of the quay line of the stevedoring companies of the group in 2010 amounted to over 24 mln. rubles. Instead of the former warehouses Nr. 9 and 10 on the territory of the Second Stevedoring Company the modernization of the open storage grounds for the general cargoes is going. These new storage grounds will make it possible to increase the annual handling volumes by  200 thousand tons.

About 210 mln. rubles in 2010 were transferred for renovation, maintenance and scheduled repairs of handling equipment fleet.

In particular, in order to increase the speed of discharge of the vessels at the terminals of the group, operating in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg, the company awarded the contracts for delivery of lift-trucks “Kalmar” with the lifting capacity from 10 up to 33 tons, terminal tractors and 40’ roll-trailers with the lifting capacity of 70 tons in 2010.  In 2010 2 bucket loaders “Komatsu” and fork-lift truck “Nissan” with the lifting capacity 2.5 tons were delivered for Multipurpose Reloading Complex in Ust-Luga. The company awarded also the contracts for delivery of two manipulator cranes “Atlas 350MH” with the lifting capacity from 6 to 14 tons and fork-lift truck “Kalmar” with the lifting capacity of 10 tons.

About 3 mln. rubles were transferred for the modernization of the transport infrastructure of the port – design works for the reconstruction of the “Gapsalskie Gates” and construction of new gate-out facing Dvinskaya street were completed. Implementation of this project will make it possible to settle the issue related to the limited number of access roads to the 1st and the 2nd areas of the Sea Port and decrease the environmental burden on the residential areas adjacent to the port.

Reference: The group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” includes also “First Stevedoring Company”, “Second Stevedoring Company”, “Third Stevedoring Company” and “Fourth Stevedoring Company” on the territory of the Greater port of Saint-Petersburg, “Multipurpose Reloading Complex” in port of Ust-Luga and a number of service companies.

The development programme of port infrastructure of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisages the construction of specialized handling facilities, which will make it possible to increase the handling turnover  and attract the more profitable cargo flows .
