The first meeting of conciliation committee, organized to settle the labour dispute was carried out with participation of the representatives of workers of the First, Second and Fourth Stevedoring Companies on November 2, 2007.
During this meeting the parties didn’t achieve the agreement in principle with regard to the labour dispute. Administration of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” refused to satisfy the ultimatum demand of the workers’ representatives to increase the minimum salary and subsequently the basic salaries and wage rates by 30% without economic substantiation report.
Only after removal of the ultimatum and cancellation of the strike to be started from November 13, 2007, the employer shall be ready to resume discussions on the planned raise of the minimum salary of the workers of the company.
The next meeting of conciliation committee will be held on November 6, 2007.
Reference: On October 25th, 2007, at the conference of the workers of the First, Second and Fourth Stevedoring companies of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” primary trade union organization of dockers made a decision to stage a walkout for an indefinite period of time starting from November 13th, 2007.
The representatives of the workers claimed that the reason for the strike was an unsettled disagreement with the employer, meaning the refusal of the administration of the group of companies to satisfy the demand to increase the basic salaries and wage rates of the workers by 30%.
