On November, 22, 2007 Saint-Petersburg Transport Prosecutor’s Office rendered a warning on inadmissibility of the violation of law to the head of the trade union port committee of the Sea port of Saint-Petersburg Alexander Moiseenko and to the leaders of the trade union organizations of the First, Second, Fourth Stevedoring companies.

In violation of the collective labour dispute settlement procedure the port trade union committee of the dockworkers and the primary trade union organizations of the three stevedoring companies of the group “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” refused to refer to arbitration and started a strike, which was considered by the Transport Prosecutor’s Office inadmissible.

A separate warning on violation of the law with regard to acquisition by conquest of amenity buildings by the participants of the strike was rendered to the chairman of the trade union committee of dockers of CJSC “Second Stevedoring Company”.

Reference: On November 21st dockers of CJSC “Fourth Stevedoring Company”, who had participated earlier in the strike returned to their work places. About half of the dockers and machine-operators of “Fourth Stevedoring Company” did not participate in the strike from the very beginning. At the moment only part of machine-operators of CJSC continue to participate in the strike (about 50 people). Total number of employees of CJSC “Fourth Stevedoring Company” is 385 people.

The workers of CJSC “PerSteCo” took up their duties on the night from Friday to Saturday on November, 17 from 0.00 o’clock in accordance with the ruling of Saint-Petersburg city court.

The workers of CJSC “SSC” started to work on November 19th, 2007.

Total number of workers of three stevedoring companies who participated in the strike is about 500 people. Total number of workers in the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” is over 4000 people.
