The group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” has become a title sponsor of Saint-Petersburg part of the International Regatta for training sailing vessels "THE TALL SHIPS RACES 2009", which was held from 11 to 14 of July, 2009.

Over 100 sailing vessels arrived to Saint-Petersburg (5 bigger ones and 10 smaller vessels and yachts are of Russian origin). Over two thousand young sailors took part in this event (500 Russian sailors; 300 sailors from Saint-Petersburg)`.

Member of the Board of Directors of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” Victor Olerskiy presented special price to the participants of regatta at the awarding ceremony for the winners of the first part which was held on July 12 on the Spit of the Basil Island.

International regatta for training sailing vessels Tall Ships’ Races has been held from 1956 and is aimed at spiritual and physical development of the young people, attraction of the young people to sea professions, tolerance education and establishing of friendship and cooperation between the youth from different countries.  Competitions are organized in three stages and four European ports participate in this race.
Vessels with all types of sails and with the length not less than 9.14 meters are allowed to participate in this race. Compulsory condition for the vessel to be allowed to participate in this race is that not less than 50% of the crew shall be of 15-25 years old.
