On the eve of the 64th anniversary of the Victory Day the veterans and the representatives of the administration of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” laid flowers to the monuments and memorial plaques dedicated to the port workers who perished in the Great Patriotic War.

Appreciating special contribution made by the veterans and workers on the home front into the history of the Great Patriotic War, the management of the group of the companies tendered personal gratitude and provided festive bonus for the port workers who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

The company’s management organized ceremonial welcome, where veterans of the war were congratulated.

The group of the companies transferred about 250 thousand rubles in order to organize festive events and to provide financial support for the veterans of the War and not working retired people who were acknowledged as veterans of the port.

Being a strategic target, Leningrad Sea Commercial Port (legal successor– the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg had been heavily bombarded from June of 1941. Infrastructure and equipment were severely damaged, however the company was continuing its operations and never stopped functioning.  Thanks to heroism and firmness of the port workers the city was provided with the all types of military cargoes, port was receiving the vessels with the evacuated inhabitants of the Baltic territories and wounded soldiers.

The group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” have been supporting the members of the Board of the Veterans of the Port for 25 years, veterans of the port receive financial allowence every quarter. In 2008 the group of companies transferred 4.6 mln. rubles for these purposes, which is by 30% more than in 2007.
