In 2008 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred over 58 mln. rubles for the implementation of the environmental campaigns.
Within the development programme of port infrastructure the construction of new water and waste treatment facilities is being carried on the territory of new terminals. Within the reconstruction of the old warehouses and open storage grounds additional local treatment systems are created. In 2008 the group of companies transferred over 33 mln. rubles for these purposes.
Over 24 mln. rubles were transferred for the measures on protection and efficient use of the water resources, on the air protection.
As a result of the environmental control, observance of emission standards and control of the use of the black oil in boiler-houses, hazardous emissions into air reduced by 10% in 2008 in comparison with 2007.

The programme also includes the use of modern handling techniques and removal of environmentally unfriendly cargoes from Saint-Petersburg.
