A. Davydenko, the head of Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport, visited the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”.
The management of the group of companies presented the first results of the implementation of all-round development programme of port infrastructure to the head of the Agency. Within this programme of development three projects have been successfully implemented. Mr. Davydenko got acquainted with the construction process of the first stage of the container terminal with the annual capacity of 350 thousand TEUs on the territory of Fourth Stevedoring Company.
The head of Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport noted positive tendencies of the company’s development in spite of the negative economic environment in the world.
Reference: The Development Programme of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisages the increase of the handling capacities up to 20 mln. tons by construction of the specialized handling facilities for containers and refrigerated cargoes and by already implemented projects.
In May of 2008 1st stage of car terminal on the territory of the Third Stevedoring Company (annual capacity – 80 thousand cars) was put into operation.
In January of 2009 Universal Handling Facility in Ust-Luga with the annual capacity of 3 mln. has started its operations.
In April of 2009 ro-ro terminal on the territory of the First Stevedoring company (annual capacity – 1 mln. tons) has handled its first 90 roll-trailers with general cargoes.
The first stage of the container terminal with the annual capacity of 350 thousand TEUs is being constructed on the territory of berth Nr. 101. The works related to putting into operation (including designing works, construction, equipment erection and training of the personnel) are expected to be completed in the end of 2009.
