In 2007 the stevedoring companies of the group of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” handled 11 mln. 989 thous. tons of cargoes.

Despite the strike of the workers of the First, Second and Fourth stevedoring companies during the last ten-days period, for the 12 months of 2007 the companies of the group managed to handle the amount of cargoes, which is by 1.3 % more than in 2006. The growth was achieved mainly due to the efficient measures of the management aimed at prevention of possible negative consequences of the strike and improvement of the efficiency of handling operations.

“First Stevedoring Company” handled 5 mln. 362 thousand tons, which amounted to 96% of the turnover of 2006; “Second Stevedoring Company” handled 2 mln. 013 thousand tons which is by 0.5% more than for the same period of 2006; “Third Stevedoring Company” decreased its performance in comparison with 2006 by 13.3%, having handled 398 thousand tons. It was caused by the change of the main area of specialization of the company and by the construction of the Automobile terminal on its territory. “Fourth Stevedoring Company” handled 4 mln. 215 thousand tons, having increased the volumes of its turnover by 12.4%.

During the 12 months of 2007 general cargoes (7 mln. 355 thousand tons), bulk and loose cargoes (4 mln. 586 thousand tons) prevailed in the structure of the turnover.

In 2007 the share of the group of companies JSC “Sea port of Saint-Petersburg” in the total turnover of the Greater port amounted to 20.1%.
