In 2018, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) allocated more than RUB 650 million for implementation of its development programme with payments for new equipment and modernization of production sites being among the key expenses of the company.

In the reporting period, the port upgraded about 15% of its handling equipment for over RUB 400 million. Throughout the year, the company’s fleet of hoisting and handling equipment was expanded with 18 new forklift trucks with capacity of 2.5 to 33 tonnes for handling of loose/bulk cargo, two front end loaders of up to 7 tonnes in capacity and 8 rolltrailers of up to 75 tonnes in capacity. Besides, the company purchased two full-revolving electric portal cranes Vityaz, one of which has already been put into operation.

To handle different types of cargo, the company also purchased new handling accessories: side clamps, beams and spreaders.

SP SPb also performed renovation of its railway infrastructure, expanded some production sites to ensure the growth of conventional cargo flows and attraction of new types of cargo. The company paid for earlier completed construction of two covered warehouses of 10,000 tonnes each and an open storage area for general cargo.

In 2018, SP SPb implemented a number of projects on modernization of non-production infrastructure. In particular, the company conducted automation of its filling stations, upgraded power supply facilities and gate check system.
