The day of complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege is a memorable date for the entire country and particularly for our city. According to a tradition, the port employees participated in a flower-laying ceremony at the Monument to Heroic Seafarers of the Baltic Shipping Company and the Leningrad Port and at the Monument to Fallen Workers of the Kanonersky Shipyard.

Amid the restrictions caused by COVID-19, there were not many participants and the event was held with respect of personal protection measures. Among the speakers at the ceremony were Andrei Zubarev, Managing Director of SP SPb, and Emil Solodky, Chairman of “Portovik” (SP SPb primary trade union organization of the Water Transport Workers’ Union). They highlighted the contribution of the port workers into the Great Victory of our country against aggressors and the city liberation.

A special pleasure was to see Aleksandra Morozova, ex-employee of the port who used to live in the besieged Leningrad, as a participant of the ceremony.

On the occasion of the commemorative day, SP SPb provided financial support to 63 veterans of the port, those awarded with the Medal "For the Defense of Leningrad" and the “Resident of Blockaded Leningrad” badge. Former port works were presented with a 5,000-ruble financial gift each.

Our deep respect and gratitude to those who defended the city. May the memory of heroes live forever!
