In the first half of 2019 JSC “Seaport of St. Petersburg” (SP SPb) allocated more than 21.7 million rubles to occupational health and safety measures, which is 37% more than similar expenses for the same period of 2018.

The major part of the funds was transferred to employees within the framework of the company's obligations in accordance with the requirements of the labour legislation of the Russian Federation and the Collective Agreement. In particular, SP SPb paid more than 13 million rubles - 45% more than a year earlier - as material compensation for the performance of certain types of work and work in potentially harmful conditions, payments for additional holidays and compensations for the dairy products distribution.

The expenses of SP SPb for the purchase of work clothing, safety shoes and other personal protective equipment, as well as medical support for workers in accordance with OHS requirements, increased by 27% and amounted to almost 8 million rubles. 

In order to protect the employees from potential industrial injuries and to ensure compliance with OHS regulations at the enterprise, the responsible port services carried out the respective activities to improve the safety culture, monitored the operations and conducted the relevant trainings.
