In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) allocated more than half a million rubles to support the port veterans.

Payments were given to nonworking pensioners, members of the Interregional Public Organization "Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Veterans", those celebrating anniversaries and activists of the veteran organization.

SP SPb provides financial assistance to its former employees every quarter. Additional payments are given to port employees of pension age on the dates commemorating the Victory Day, Lifting the Siege of Leningrad and on the occasion of their professional holiday, Marine and River Fleet Workers’ Day.

Special attention is paid by SP SPb to leisure activities of its veterans. The company regularly arranges meeting, tours and commemorative events. In 2020, with respect of all anti-pandemic measures, the company arranged participation of former port employees in events commemorating Lifting the Siege of Leningrad and Tallinn Breakthrough. In autumn, the veterans took part in the traditional “Memorial Voyage”. Together with the veterans of North-Western Shipping Company and Nevsky Shipyard as well as cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping and Admiral Senyavin Marine Technical College, historians and representatives of public organizations, they sailed along the Neva river to Shlisselburg on the Ladoga lake. Near the Oreshek fortress the ship stopped to let the participants lay the wreaths and flowers onto the water in commemoration of lives lost on the “Road of Life”. During their return voyage they were presented a concert prepared by the students of maritime educational institutions and professionals.
