On 2 July 2019, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC welcomed guests from China – representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Shandong Province.

The Celestial trade union is among the most powerful social organizations. Having come to Russia on the invitation of the Russian Trade Union of Workers of Chemical Industries and having held business meetings in Moscow and in the Veliky Novgorod, Chinese trade union leaders decided to visit the port of Saint-Petersburg. Their interest is natural – the port of Qingdao, one of the world's largest ports with annual throughput exceeding 500 million tonnes is in the Shandong Province.

The quests visited the First and the Second cargo handling districts of the port and observed the handling of vessels. Party Committee Secretary Li Zhitang, the head of the delegation, emphasized that, despite of the capacity, our ports have a lot in common, primarily their multiple purposes. The port of Qingdao handles grain, ore, containers, Ro-Ro cargo, fertilizers and oil.

Saint-Petersburg and Qingdao are twin cities. The agreement on twin-city relations was signed in 2006 in Saint-Petersburg. Back then, the Chinese delegation also visited Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC.
