Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) congratulates the veterans and all citizens on the 74th anniversary of complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege on 27 January 1944. 

In the run-up to the anniversary the company rendered financial assistance to its former employees awarded with the “Port Veteran” title. Among them are 75 persons awarded with the “Residents of Blockaded Leningrad” badge and 7 persons awarded with the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad".

Support of the veterans is a significant part of the port’s social policy. Attention to its employees is a mark of respect and gratitude to all those who contributed years of dedicated work, ideas and initiatives to the development of Saint-Petersburg port. Port employees of today have an opportunity to obtain invaluable experience of commitment at annual meetings where veterans share their memories with the younger generation.

During the Great Patriotic War the port was at the front line of the defense of the city. The port workers supplied ships with fuel, water and ammunition, received cargoes for defenders of Leningrad, supported power supply of defense companies and war divisions. Infantry battalion from port workers was included in Kirov division of citizen militia.
