From the beginning of the year, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) has invested RUB 232.6 million in its infrastructure projects, 40% more than in the same period of the previous year.

The bulk of this amount was allocated for upgrading of the company’s handling equipment. In particular, SP SPb purchased special magnetic stations for its portal cranes. That will let replace the manual grab with the magnetic beams for unloading of ferrous metal from railcars, thus ensuring facilitation of operations in this segment. The port also acquired a wheel-mounted Liebherr LHM 280 crane with lifting capacity of 84 tonnes. The crane has already been assembled, tested and prepared for operation. It will start handling cargo in June upon registration by Russia’s technical watchdog Rostechnadzor and completion of personnel training.

From the beginning of 2020, SP SPb has prepared more than 6,600 square meters of its territory for construction of new transshipment and storage yards intended for handling of a variety of cargoes.
