On May 5, JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb) will hold festive events devoted to the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war.

The ceremonial meeting will be held in the garden in front of the port’s Main gates near the monument to “Heroic sailors of the Baltic Shipping Company and Leningrad port”, which will also become the starting point of “The Immortal Regiment” action. People of the port carrying portraits of their relatives-participants of the war and of the port’s veterans will solemnly proceed to the stele commemorating Defenders of the port located in Gutuevsky bay and to memorial plaques devoted to the defenders of our Motherland, where they will lay flowers in memory of the fallen.

By tradition, after the festive events the company’s veterans will take part in the port tour and the next week-end they will visit Konstantinovsky Palace. On top of that, all the port’s veterans – participants of the war, home-front workers and prisoners of fascist concentration camps – will get financial aid from the company.

On the eve of the holiday the thematic exhibition “War and Peace on the berths of the port” was opened in the port’s Management building. The archive and modern photographs demonstrate the contrast between workdays of the Leningrad port in war years and in times of peace today.
