OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” congratulates veterans and employees of the company with 71th  anniversary of lifting the Nazi siege of Leningrad. As celebration of this holiday the company rendered financial assistance to non-working pensioners granted the rank “Port Veteran”. Among them are 95 veterans awarded the badge of honour “Resident of Blockaded Leningrad” and 13 veterants awarded by medal “For Defense of Leningrad”.


Support of veterans is an important sphere of social policy of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”. Company regularly renders assistance to the veterans, congratulates with holidays and jubilees, arranges cultural events. Meetings during which veterans share their experience with young port workers and employees tell about the port today turned to be good tradition.

During the Great Patriotic War the port was at the front line of the defense of the city. The port workers supplied ships with fuel, water and ammunition, received cargoes for defenders of Leningrad, supported power supply of defense companies and war divisions. Infantry battalion from port workers was included in Kirov division of citizen militia.
