During six months of 2008 the stevedoring companies of the group of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” handled 5.5 mln. tons of cargoes. This is by 10% less than in the same period of the last year.

In the structure of the turnover the general cargoes prevailed (3.8 mln. tons), including metals (2.5 mln. tons), loose and bulk cargoes (2.3 mln. tons), among which the coal prevailed (1.2 mln. tons).

“First Stevedoring Company” handled 2.7 mln. tons; “Second Stevedoring Company” handled - 0.82 mln. tons (-22%); “Fourth Stevedoring Company” handled 1.9 mln. tons. (-12%). Within two incomplete months of car handling operations “Third Stevedoring company” handled 10.6 thousand cars.

The reduction of the turnover of the Second Stevedoring Company is caused by certain activities related to redistribution of the cargoes within the companies of the group.
The decrease of the handling volumes of the Fourth Stevedoring Company is caused by the absence of timely delivery of the railcars for unloading of the coal.
