On May 6, OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” will hold festive events devoted to the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war.
On this day veterans and the company’s employees together with their families will lay flowers at the monument to “Heroic sailors of the Baltic Shipping Company and Leningrad port” in the garden in front of the port’s Main gates, at the stele commemorating Defenders of the port in the First cargo area, as well as at memorial plaques devoted to the defenders of the Motherland. People of the port will participate in “The Immortal Regiment” action and in solemn procession will honour the memory of their relatives who suffered the toils of war.
The veterans will take part in the port tour and on week-end – in the two-day trip to the recreation centre in Leningrad region. On top of that all the port’s veterans – participants of the war, home-front workers and prisoners of fascist concentration camps – will traditionally get financial aid from the company.
On the eve of the holiday the exhibition “Port and the Victory” was opened in the port’s Management building. The archive photos display everyday life of Leningrad port and people, who protected our city, as well as photos of veterans. Also, port workers took part in “St.George Ribbon” campaign.
