JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” will present the development programme for the port infrastructure at the second international investment forum, which will be organized in London on September 24-26, 2008.
The development programme includes the construction of the specialized terminals for handling of containers, cars, refrigerated and Ro-Ro cargoes.

The container terminal with the total annual capacity equal to 1.5 mln. TEUs is being constructed on the territory of CJSC “Fourth Stevedoring Company”. The terminal will be placed into operation in 2011. In July of this year new technological equipment has been purchased for this terminal.

The construction of the refrigerated terminal will make it possible to decrease the expenses of the key importers of foodstuffs in Saint-Petersburg and North-Western part of Russia and will secure safety of quality and its compliance with the European sanitary norms. The annual project capacity of the terminal will amount to 1 mln. tons of refrigerated cargoes.

Universal Ro-Ro terminals will be constructed on the territories of the First and Second port areas. The project capacity of the terminals will amount to 1.5 linear meters per year.

Full development of the car terminal on the territory of CJSC “Third Stevedoring Company” envisages the increase of the throughput capacity of the existing terminal up to 250 thousand cars per year. It will become possible due to the reconstruction of the territory and alleviation works in the alignment of berths 67 and 68.

The development programme of the port infrastructure includes the removal of environmentally unfriendly cargo from Saint-Petersburg, which will decrease the burden on the residential areas of the city. The measures aimed at the transfer of the cargo flows from the areas of the Greater port of  SPb to the main roads will decrease the congestion of the roads adjacent to the port by the heavy trucks.


The implementation of the development programme for the port infrastructure will give the opportunity to increase the handling capacities of the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” up to 20 mln. tons per year by 2011. The investments into implementation of this programme will amount to 500 mln. Euros.

Second International Investment Forum “The Russian ports” will be held in London on September 24-26, 2008. London Forum will serve as a place for communication of the heads of the Russian and the global port operating companies and steamship lines; representatives of the Russian authorities and Regional Administrations;  financiers and bankers.
