Within the programme of the reconstruction and the development of the 1st and 2nd areas of the Greater Port JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” provided premises for Border Control Department on the territory of the 2nd cargo area of the port and transferred around 3 mln rubles for its renovation and reconstruction.

Earlier the employees of the Border Control were working in the premises with the total area of 50 sq. meters, which didn’t comply with the requirements of work safety.


New premise with the total area of 350 sq. m. meets all the requirements of the Border Service of Federal Security Service of Russia and is equipped with all the technical devices which are necessary to ensure the work of the check point. It is certified by the report of the task group checking the arrangement of the border control points. This group was established by order of the Governor of Saint-Petersburg and includes the representatives of Committee on Transport and Transit policy, the representatives of Border Control Department of Federal Security Service of Russia and the employees of the Administration of the Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg.

The administration of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” plans to transfer over 4 mln. rubles for mounting of passport and visa inspection system till the end of 2008.

After the reconstruction of the second area JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” plans to equip the quay of the 2 area with the surveillance system to optimize the work of the Border Control Department. The cost of this surveillance system is 36 mln. rubles.

 

Reference: The reconstruction and the development of the 1st and the 2nd cargo areas of the port of Saint-Petersburg are envisaged by the Development programme of the group of companies up to 2011. It includes the following projects: the construction of the new facilities (automobile and container terminals); the reconstruction of the existing facilities (capital repairs of the berths); development of the transport infrastructure (reconstruction of the check-points, design and construction of the transit parking lot for the trucks and programme on transfer of the cargo flows from the areas of the Greater Port to the main roads). Total volume of investments into implementation of the Programme will amount to 30 bln. rubles.
