JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb) has launched regular container service of SEA CONNECT line. 

Vessel-calls to SPSP’s terminal from the ports of Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Hamburg (Germany) and Aarhus (Denmark) take place no less than twice a week. 

The line operates the vessels PIRITA, NJORD and ATLANTIC COAST of 700 TEUs capacity each. Previously, container vessels of SEA CONNECT called at JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” in testing mode.  

Beginning from the autumn of 2016 SPSP started to accept 45, 40 and 20-foot dry, refrigerated and tank containers with cargoes of all classes of hazard (excluding oil products).  Distinguishing feature of the company’s operations is provision of additional (apart from handling) services: stuffing/stripping, repacking of container cargoes, DEPOT services (quotation for temporary storage/build-up of empty containers in the port’s territory), acceptance, handling and forming of container trains, pre-voyage preparation of containers and other services.  

The territory of 2 ha on the Second area of the Greater port of Saint-Petersburg was rendered suitable for container operations. It includes berth where handling of container fleet takes place, railway cargo front which can accommodate no less than 2 container trains, open storage ground for simultaneous storage of up to 1700 TEUs, storage shed with the area of 8660 sq.m, stuffing/stripping/repacking zone, reefer storage equipped with 96 reefer plugs, inspection zone including phytosanitary and veterinarian control, container weighing facility. In compliance with the market standards SPSP uses modern computer software which by means of the specialized web-portal permits to organize truck-visit system for entering the terminal, as well as to provide electronic data exchange, also in EDI format.

JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” – the largest operator rendering services on handling of all dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates modern multi-purpose terminals for general and bulk cargoes as well as specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes and containers. In 2016 the company’s cargo turnover amounted to 7.3 mln tons.
