On the 21st of October – the municipal Day of City Beautification – the employees of JSC “Sea Port of St.Petersburg” (SPSP) joined the residents of Kanonersky Island in clean-up activities.
The area allocated to the port team was at the coastal territory of Putilov’s embankment of the Seaway Channel. Beautiful sunny morning pepped the spirits and energy of the participants and the location was thoroughly combed by the united efforts of the team.
Our colleagues picked dozens of bags of glass and plastic beer bottles – the traditional “coastal” type of litter, which is left here by relaxing and fishing citizens.After the clean-up every participant felt involved in the common important process and had a hope that the embankment will remain spotlessly clean for a long time.
Participation in the municipal Day of City Beautification is not the first eco-friendly initiative of SPSP. Every year the port holds “Clean Island” environmental events on Kanonersky Island in order to free the area from what was left after the summer picnics.
For many years the environmental safety is one of the top priorities at JSC “Sea Port of St.Petersburg”. The company is continuously investing in protection of waters in the port section of the Finnish Gulf, sustaining of air purity and ensuring safe and uninterrupted operations of waste treatment facilities of the Port.
