Saint-Petersburg Sea port was welcoming guests of the State Duma.
The members of the Parliament committee on economic policy, business activities and tourism were studying the situation using Saint-Petersburg hub as an example. According to NTV, the Duma is preparing the law on sea ports, and members of the Parliament decided to get acquainted with the subject on site.
Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg is looking forward to the adoption of this law. Without this law private companies don’t want to risk and invest money into reconstruction of the berths, because there are no guarantees. According to the members of the State Duma and port representatives, this law should be passed as soon as possible. Until this time there can’t be clear schedule of reconstruction and operation of the berths. Besides, capital reconstruction of the Sea Port by the state is underfunded by the amount of 608 mln rubles.
Members of the Duma Committee were shown the poor condition of the port, particularly several dilapidating berths. In such a way the port employees emphasized the legal antinomy: in maritime state there is the law on bee-farming, but no law on sea ports.
