According to preliminary data in the 1st quarter of 2009 the group of companies JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred about 280 mln. rub. as taxes and payments which is by 34% more than in the same period of the last year.
116 mln. rub. were transferred to the local budget, which is by 36% more than the same indicators of 2008, 161 mln. rub. were transferred to the federal budget (+32%). The main reason for increase of tax payments is the growth of the earnings due to the bigger amount of complicated and expensive handling operations in the total structure of the company’s profits and increase of the property cost due to the fact that new facilities were placed in operation. Increase of the tax payments is caused also by the growth of the personnel’s salaries.
In 1st quarter of 2009 the average salary of the workers of the group of companies grew by 15% in comparison with the same period of 2008 and amounted to 33 000 rub. In particular, average salary of dockers, main workers of the port, amounted to 36 000 rub.
In spite of negative factors of external economic environment within its policy of corporate social responsibility the group of companies takes measures which are aimed at preservation and support of personnel.
In the 1st quarter the target social payments amounted to 1.4 mln. rubles. Money from target funds are distributed between the most preferred areas: main funds have been transferred for financial assistance to the employees and for reimbursement of treatment costs.
During summer period the company traditionally organizes summer vacation for employees’ children, compensating for the major part of the cost of the trip to the recreation camp “Mayak”. The company helps and supports the veterans of the war – former workers of the port. In the 1st quarter of 2009 the company transferred 1.1 mln. for these purposes.
