Specialists of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” have completed the operation for movement of the pneumatic crane Kovako weighing 300 tons from the berth 101 at the Fourth Stevedoring Company to the berth 102 for its further operation. The equipment is destined for direct handling of alumina from vessels to rail cars.
The crane “Demag” with the capacity of 350 tons was used in the movement operation carried out in 2 stages.
The production capacity of the pneumatic crane amounts to 600 tons per hour, the maximum deadweight of discharged vessels – to 40,000 tons. With the 46-meter manipulator Kovako is able to move bulk cargoes for long distances.
The new equipment with the high automation level has no analogues by the production capacity neither in Russia, nor in Europe. Due to the closed pneumatic cycle the pneumatic crane meets all ecological requirements for noise and dust emission.
Kovako is planned to be put into operation in the beginning of the 3d quarter of 2009 when erection works and equipment testing are completed.
For information:
The planned movement of the new equipment from the berth 101 at the Fourth Stevedoring Company has been carried out in the framework of the Development Program executed by the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” envisaging among others construction of the first stage of the maritime container terminal with the capacity of some 350,000 TEUs per year at the territory of the berth 101.
Works for launch of the first stage including designing, construction, erection of the technological equipment and personnel training are planned to be completed late 2009.
The group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” includes the “First Stevedoring Company”, “Second Stevedoring Company”, “Third Stevedoring Company”, “Fourth Stevedoring Company”, “Universal Transshipment Complex” in Ust-Luga, as well as service companies.
