On December 10, employees of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) had a meeting with Aleksandr Gorelov, Deputy Director for Research at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, Chairman of the National Society of Infectious Disease Specialists, Corresponding Member of RAS. The meeting was dedicated to efficient methods of COVID-19 prevention including vaccination.

Aleksandr Gorelov told the port employees about the pandemic development, specifics of the novel coronavirus infection, its symptoms and effects, types of Russian vaccines, phases of their testing and mechanism of action. SP SPb employees brought up sensible subjects regarding the general epidemiological situation and personal cases. Aleksandr Gorelov paid attention to everyone, dispelled all the popular myths and shared scientifically proven facts in comprehensible words.

For those unable to take part in the meeting SP SPb arranged an online streaming and a video recording. Online participants could also use messaging services to ask questions and to get answers.

From the beginning of the pandemic, SP SPb has been conducting a full-scale information campaign aimed at prevention of the coronavirus infection. A strict procedure has been developed for the executives to follow if virus exposure is suspected. The company was among the first in the city to introduce temperature measuring, COVID-19 testing and vaccination for its employees. Other preventive measures undertaken by SP SPb include regular disinfection of the premises, handling equipment and transport, distribution of individual protective means and antibacterial sprays. Administrative personnel has been partially transferred to remote operation.
