In January-March of 2014 the turnover of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (“SPSPb”) amounted to 1.9 mln tons of cargoes, which is by 5% more, than within the same period of the last year.

 

Handling volumes of general cargoes increased by 5% up to 1.5 mln. tons. In particular, handling volumes of ferrous metals increased by 16% up to 0.553 mln. tons. However handling volumes of non-ferrous metals decreased by 29% up to 0.326 mln. tons.

 

Besides, in January-March of 2014 the company boosted handling volumes of loose and bulk cargoes by 3% up to 0.436 mln. tons, mainly due to handling of mineral fertilizers. Handling volumes of this cargo increased by 20% and amounted to 0.256 mln. tons.

 

The indicators of the turnover of “SPSPb” in the 1st quarter of 2014 reflect the dynamic tendencies of the world economy. As within the reporting period there is recovery of demand for ferrous metals, related to seasonal decrease of consumers’ storage reserves. Dynamics of handling of mineral fertilizers and non-ferrous metals is characterized by continuous tendencies at the main merchandise markets.

 

In general export turnover of “SPSPb” increased by 17% and amounted to 1.6 mln. tons, import volumes decreased by 34% to 0.289 mln. tons.
