The dockers of the Second and Fourth Stevedoring Companies  (companies of the group JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”) have successfully performed handling operations on the second export supply of the equipment for Kourou Space Centre (French Guiana). On December, 22 the vessel "Flinterland" left for the shores of South America carrying 95 containers and 51 cargo items on board.

Starting system, fire protection system and monitoring system for temperature and pressure will be required for the assembly of the launching complex, which will be used by the “Soyuz” rockets for orbiting of the geostationary satellites.

The equipment was manufactured by Moscow Engineering Bureau for General Machinery and Scientific Production Association named after Lavochkin in cooperation with the companies from Russian space industry.

Reference: Kourou Space Centre or Guiana Space Centre is located in French Guiana (South America), 50 kilometres from Cayenne, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Centre is used for orbiting of the geostationary satellites. The interest of Russia toward Kourou Space Centre is related to its equatorial location: it can be used for orbiting of the heavier satellites than those launched from the space centers in Baikonur and Plesetsk.
